What is face tattoo removal?

Face tattoo removal follows the same principle as tattoo removal on any other part of the body: the ink in your tattoo is broken down so that nothing is left of it. At Ray studios, face tattoo removal is a structured treatment protocol carried out by skin therapists trained in the use of the laser.

Why choose face tattoo removal?

Is your face tattoo too visible, poorly done, or simply no longer you? Have you tried every way of making it less noticeable: make-up, hats, plasters? And has laser tattoo removal not yet crossed your mind as a way of being done with it?

We can tell you that face tattoo removal is possible with our picosecond lasers, whatever your reasons for wanting it!

Advanced technology and method

The picosecond laser: the latest PicoWay® technology

At Ray studios, we use the most advanced technology on the market: the picosecond laser. This laser is a real gem for every skin type and every tattoo. The PicoWay® laser targets ink particles in the skin very precisely without affecting the surrounding skin on your face, so you can relax.

Face tattoo removal versus other methods

Laser tattoo removal remains the least invasive and the least risky way to remove a tattoo on the face. Other techniques such as lactic acid, surgery or tattoo removal creams are genuinely not advised, and even less so on the face.

Laser is also the only tattoo removal technique that can be delivered by trained skin therapists using settings chosen for your skin and your ink, in a controlled studio environment.

How laser face tattoo removal works

From the initial consultation to the last session

Your first steps with Ray studios begin with an initial consultation in one of our studios. The initial consultation is there to confirm your removal project by examining your face tattoo and to build your file with your skin therapist. They will then set out your Full Remove plan, which gives you unlimited sessions at a single fixed price, along with a projection of the number of sessions needed to clear your tattoo using RTP®.

You will then start your Ray studios journey, with an appointment every 8 weeks at the earliest and careful attention to the aftercare protocol so that your face tattoo fades as effectively as possible. Individual results vary.

At your last session, you will review your progress to see whether your face tattoo removal is officially complete. After that, you are free!

The number of sessions needed for face tattoo removal

The number of sessions needed to remove a face tattoo depends on several factors: the tattoo itself (where it sits on the face, ink density, quantity of ink, pigment depth, the colours it contains) and the profile of each customer (skin type, how the skin reacts, history, healing capacity and so on). It therefore varies a great deal from one person to another.

Care before and after face tattoo removal

How to prepare before having a face tattoo removed

Before each face tattoo removal session, follow the guidance from your skin therapist so that your treatment takes place in the best possible conditions.

In the two weeks before your session, avoid sun exposure, UV and the use of self-tanning creams.

Important care after your face tattoo removal session

Aftercare for face tattoo removal really matters. Treated skin is skin that needs respect, which is why we created the 4Ps: Protocol of care, Prevention, Patience and Protection.

At the end of your laser session, your skin therapist applies a deeply hydrating cream and a protective dressing to your face. Once you walk out of the studio door, it is over to you.

The essential aftercare points are:

  • Keeping your face out of the sun: you can use a cap or an SPF50 cream if needed so the treated area is not exposed to sunlight.
  • Hydrating your skin while it heals: for skincare fans, stick to a rich healing cream on the treated area of the face and nothing more for the whole healing period. Avoid photosensitising and harsh products as far as possible.
  • A healthy lifestyle through good food, good hydration and physical activity (to be avoided for 48 hours after a session) can help your body eliminate toxins.

Conclusion

In short, face tattoo removal can seem intimidating, but do not worry, you are not alone on this journey. With laser tattoo removal carried out by a trained skin therapist, you can say goodbye to unwanted tattoos on your face and welcome fresh skin. Individual results vary. All of this is possible with good preparation, attentive aftercare and choosing Ray studios.

FAQ

Can you safely have a tattoo removed from your face?

Yes, tattoo removal on the face is entirely possible and safe when carried out by skin therapists, as at Ray studios. Thanks to PicoWay® picosecond laser technology, ink particles are targeted with extreme precision without damaging the surrounding skin tissue. This non-invasive method, performed by skin therapists, is well suited to sensitive areas such as the face. Individual results vary. Compared with creams, surgery or lactic acid, laser treatment is recognised for its effectiveness and safety, particularly for facial skin.

How many sessions are needed for a complete facial tattoo removal?

The number of sessions needed to remove a facial tattoo varies depending on several factors: the depth and density of the ink, the colours used, the exact location on the face and your skin's specific characteristics (type, reactivity, healing capacity). During your initial consultation, a skin therapist will draw up a personalised plan using the Ray Tattoo Profile. On average, sessions are spaced at least 8 weeks apart to allow your skin to heal properly and your body to gradually eliminate the ink. Each project is unique and treated as such.

What aftercare should be followed before and after facial tattoo removal?

Before a facial tattoo removal session, it is essential to avoid any sun exposure, UV exposure or the use of self-tanning creams for the two weeks beforehand. After each session, a rigorous aftercare protocol is implemented, based on Ray studios’ “4Ps”: Prevention, Protocol, Patience, Protection. You will need to avoid sun exposure (using SPF50 cream or a head covering), intensely hydrate the treated area with a healing cream and maintain a healthy lifestyle to support the elimination of toxins. Good aftercare is essential for an optimal result. Individual results vary.
